Michael has a unique combination of experience having led the development and implementation of communication, reputation, brand and marketing strategies for major corporations, government and non-government organisations.

He was Vice-President Communication at BHP Billiton following the formation of that company in 2001 having previously worked as Head of Communication and Corporate Marketing and Director of Group Media Relations at BHP.  He subsequently worked as Group Manager Corporate Citizenship at National Australia Bank and Head of Marketing and Communication at the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) International Centre in Germany.

Previously he had been General Manager of the National Institute of Economic and Industry Research, Senior Adviser to the Premier of Victoria and Head of the Victorian Government Media Relations Unit.  He has held senior positions in the media having worked as a political reporter and news producer for the Seven and Nine networks in Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane. 

He has graduate qualifications in management and public policy from AGSM and Melbourne University.
